The number of frames per second your DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is capable of handling. A real time second of video is 30 Frames. So a recorded second or video motion that doesn't skip is 30 Frames. So when looking for a good DVR system make sure you get a system that does 30fps for each camera. In order to pick up the object at the further distance, you must either use a larger lens that would make the image more zoomed in or use the more expensive megapixel camera that would allow the operator to zoom in digitally. Digital zoom is possible with high end megapixel cameras, but not with normal resolution CCTV cameras.

How To Install a CCTV Surveillance System?

Make a sketch of the area where you will install the cameras and surveillance DVR. Determine how you will route the plug-and-play cables from the DVR to the cameras and insure your cabling is long enough to reach each camera. Install the cables.

Install the cameras, using the supplied hardware with your electric screwdriver. Connect the plug-and-play cables to each camera.

Connect the other end of the plug-and-play cables to the DVR and camera power supplies. Plug in the DVR and camera power supplies.

Connect the DVR to your monitor. If you are using a TV, plug the RCA adapter into the TV video input and plug the DVR video output cable into the RCA adapter. Turn on your TV and set the input to "video in" or "aux in."
